While I don’t often get blackheads, my skin is oily and textured, so I use pore care products to help keep my skin clearer, less oily and smoother. Style Korean kindly sent me some pore care products to try, and this is my experience with them.
PyunKang Yul Low pH Pore Deep Cleansing Foam Review
The PyunKang Yul Low pH Pore Deep Cleansing Foam is a mild cleanser but is still very effective at clearing impurities from pores, removing makeup and gently exfoliating skin. It contains centella asiatica to soothe skin, tea tree extract to calm skin and control sebum, and fruit-based AHAs to gently exfoliate.
My Experience
This has quickly become one of my favourite cleansers. It makes a nice light foam, which is very gentle to use. It doesn’t make my skin sensitive, and I can happily use it around my eye area to remove makeup without causing irritation. My skin feels very clear after using this, without any tightness.
Some By Mi Bye Bye Blackhead 30 Days Miracle Green Tea Tox Bubble Cleanser Review
The Bye Bye Blackhead Cleanser is a bubble cleanser that contains 24% green tea water, 16 types of tea extract, and naturally-derived BHA to clear pores and brighten skin.
My Experience
This is such a fun cleanser! It applies as a gel and then bubbles up on your skin like a bubble mask after a few minutes. It has a refreshing feel and scent from peppermint. I was surprised by how hydrated my skin still felt after using it. It didn’t cause me any sensitivity, but left my skin soft and clear.
Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Soft Peeling Gel Review
The Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Soft Peeling Gel aims to exfoliate by dissolving dead skin cells. Containing black rice extract, the peeling gel helps to boost skin elasticity, reducing signs of ageing.
My Experience
This is a really gentle way to exfoliate dead skin cells. You can see and feel the dead skin being removed and it is completely painless – no harsh physical scrubbing or burning feel. My skin is left much smoother without any irritation.
Skinfood Peach Sake Pore Toner Review
The Skinfood Peach Sake Toner is a lightweight toner that refreshes skin with rice sake and peach extract to reduce the appearance of pores, minimise shine and make skin feel soft and clear.
My Experience
I have done a review of Skinfood skincare before and really love the brand. I really appreciate the packaging style they have, plus the products tend to work well for my skin.
To me, this is the coolest skincare I’ve ever seen; it looks just like a sake bottle! Plus, the peach scent is absolutely delicious, I could sniff it all day!
It almost instantly dries on my skin leaving a smooth, matte feel. I suspect this is due to the high concentration of denat alcohol in the product, which is the second listed ingredient. Personally, it’s not such a problem for me as it does work really well for my skin and gives me the results I want.
However, it is not a hydrating toner at all and wouldn’t be suitable for drier skin types. I have oily skin and it can make my skin feel a bit tight at times. The toner makes my skin so soft and smooth that I don’t mind and will compensate with more moisturiser.
Mary & May Daily Safe Black Head Clear Nose Mask Review
The nose mask from Mary & May aims to tackle blackheads and excess sebum from the nose area. It is a two-part mask; the first mask contains witch hazel extract to help clear pores by dissolving sebum and dead skin cells. You are provided with a set of cotton buds that you use to clear any blackheads away with.
The second mask step contains centella asiatica extract, houttuynia cordata extract, tea tree extract and peptides to calm skin and tighten pores after removing the blackheads.
My Experience
I’ve used these masks a few times and haven’t had much result from them, but I do still appreciate the process of using them. The first mask makes my skin feel cool and tingly. After using it, I haven’t removed anything from my nose with the cotton swab, however, blackheads on my nose aren’t something I have much problem with.
The second mask is very soothing though, and I appreciate the cica and tea tree ingredients that refine my pores. I won’t use these regularly, as I don’t really need them at the moment, but I will reach for them again if this changes.
Be The Skin BHA+ Pore Zero Serum Review
A soothing serum to tackle excess sebum, rough skin and clogged pores, the Be The Skin Pore Zero serum has BHA from willow to provide a natural and gentle exfoliation. It also contains centella asiatica and evening primrose to soothe and soften skin.
My Experience
I previously reviewed the Be The Skin Pore Zero Skincare and have been using the Pore Zero Serum for about a year. It is a fantastic serum for those with oily skin, as it is the perfect balance between offering pore care and moisturisation. Some pore care products aren’t that hydrating, but this is ideal.
The serum sinks in fast and leaves a matte finish, which I really appreciate. It is very moisturising without being greasy, making my skin look healthy and plump instead. This is one of my favourite pore care products, as it is super moisturising while helping to control sebum and mattify skin, which is just what I need.
Which Pore Care Products Are My Favourite?
My favourite products from this selection are the PyunKang Yul Low pH Pore Deep Cleansing Foam, the Skinfood Peach Sake Pore Toner, and the Be The Skin Pore Zero Serum, as these have brought the best results for my skin.
