Latest In Beauty New + Noteworthy Review

Latest In Beauty

I love a good beauty box, so I couldn’t resist getting my hands on Latest In Beauty’s New + Noteworthy collection. After trying all of the products for a couple of weeks, here are my thoughts.

LIB

Laidbare Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow! Hair Minimising Cream

Laidbare’s Hair Minimising Cream is an absolute Godsend of a product. Due to a bunch of health problems and bad genes my hair grows like absolute crazy, leaving my legs looking stubbly by the afternoon when I shave in the morning! Luckily, this Minimising Cream is a miracle product and meant my legs were smooth for a good two or three days. For someone with more normal hairs, I imagine you could go quite a few days without needing to shave.

This product comes out as more of a gel-like consistency rather than a moisturising cream as I had expected. Despite this, I really like the consistency, as it sinks in very quickly and isn’t sticky at all. The only thing to watch out for is that it is quite runny and comes out of the tube very quickly, without needing to squeeze, so you can end up with a lot more product than required.

Lore Originals Legend Hair Mask

A sample sachet of the Lore Originals Legend Hair Mask was included in the box. The mask has a nice and thick texture, which isn’t very wet, so it works great as a leave in hair mask without getting all over my clothes like a wetter hair product might. It is applied directly to dry hair and needs to be left on for a minimum of 15 minutes. The mask has quite a subtle scent, so it’s not overwhelming if you want to leave it on for a few hours or overnight. As the mask isn’t too wet, it would work really well as an overnight mask, as the mask almost dries into the hair, so I don’t think it would soak into your pillow.

After using, my hair feels so soft and light. I have had the ends of my hair lightened for several years, so it can sometimes be a little damaged and dry, but this hair mask has completely made it feel healthier.

The product itself is great, although the sachet sent in this package, while a decent size, simply didn’t have enough product in it to cover all of my hair. This is more on me and how long my hair is rather than anything to do with the product though!

Time Bomb

Time Bomb Youth Juice Secret Oil

As an oil, it’s really good, as it isn’t greasy at all, and sinks into the skin quickly, leaving it smooth and soft. My only complaint for this product is the stopper. To get product out, you need to pull out a rubber stopper from the bottle’s neck, and you are directed to cover the hole with a finger and tip the bottle up to get product out. Not only is it a little tricky and risky to remove the stopper, but the opening of the bottle is bigger than most people’s fingers, so I imagine a lot of spillage could occur. I feel this could have really easily been remedied by having a better designed opening, but as long as you’re careful it should be fine.

Cake Mane Manage’r

The Cake Mane Manage’r is a leave in conditioner. You spray it onto the ends and lengths of your hair when dry or damp, as a thickish serum consistency, and comb in. I have wavy hair, and I find that using this product makes it a little straighter and smoother. As a conditioner, it works well, without leaving your hair crisp or wet. My only slight complaint with this product is the scent. I usually have no problem with sweet scents, but the cake aromas can be a little overpowering, even for me. The scent definitely gets better as the day goes on, but if you’re not a big fan of sweet, cakey smells, then maybe seek a different flavour.

Umberto Giannini Flowerology Rose Drops Vegan Miracle Mist

A styling spray with a delightful rose scent, the light hair mist is designed to colour protect hair. It is light and doesn’t cause any crispy patches in your hair as some styling sprays do. However, the spray does not appear to provide heat protection. This is something I always look for in a hair styling product, as most of the times I bother to ‘style’ my hair will involve heat tools. Regardless, this is a nice spritzy spray that I have used to refresh my hair with a nice scent and to liven up my waves.

Patchology AquaFlash Daily Gel Moisturiser

This has quickly become one of my favourite ever moisturisers. Especially good for the summer months, this gel moisturiser is light and refreshing when applied, with a slightly cooling feel. It is absorbed very quickly and doesn’t leave your skin looking shiny or greasy, making it ideal for those with oily skin. The moisturiser contains Hyaluronic acid, and you can tell, as my skin felt so smooth and soft after using. The soothing feeling is amplified by the addition of Aloe extract, which really adds to the light and refreshingness of this moisturiser.

New + Noteworthy

Argentum Apothecary Illuminating Hydration Bar

Out of all of the products in this box, this is probably my least favourite, although that isn’t to say that it is bad. It looks like the kind of soap you’d get free in a hotel, and the scent smells like it is a men’s product. It smells nice, but there’s just something about it that reminds me of a men’s scent.

The other thing I’m not massively keen on is the fact that it is a solid bar product. While I love my solid shampoo and conditioner bars, I am a little apprehensive about a facial cleanser in a bar as the product itself won’t be kept clean when left out in the air. As well as this, it just didn’t work for me as a product. It made my skin feel very dry and after using, my face became quite red in patches, which wasn’t ideal. It isn’t for me, but I could see it working for others!

LIB Jurlique

Jurlique Radiant Skin Foaming Cleanser

Another absolute star from the box, the Jurlique Radiant Skin Foaming Cleanser has worked wonders on my skin. This cleanser was one of the smaller, travel-sized items in the box, so I took a risk when I recently went away and relied on this product alone to keep my skin clean. It was a risk worth taking, as this beauty of a cleanser has done wonders to my skin. It isn’t as foaming as many other foaming cleansers I have used, but I don’t think that particularly matters. The product has a very slightly gritty quality, while remaining gentle, allowing for a hint of exfoliation alongside the cleansing. It leaves my skin feeling soft and refreshed without leaving it tight or dry.

MUA Blushed Liquid Cream Blusher ‘Misty Rose’

When I first opened this product I was a little apprehensive, as the colour is a rather vibrant shade of coral-pink. Luckily, this cream blush is very blendable and buildable, allowing you to get the intensity of blush you desire rather easily. I tend to go for powder peachy blush shades, but this MUA blush was a welcome change and I would definitely opt for a liquid blush in future. The tube is fairly small, making it a good option for when you are travelling, plus, a little goes a long way with this product, so its size is not an issue!

A.T Antao ColourLux Lip Lacquer

I usually only use matte lipsticks, so a lip lacquer was something new for me to try. I received this product in the shade ‘Strawberry’, which is a lighter red than I would ordinarily go for, but it actually works rather well. It applies as an extremely glossy and shiny lip colour. The lip lacquer seems to take a long time to dry, but after a while it acts as more of a lip stain. The colour is long-lasting and actually requires a good scrub to get off at the end of the day! Because it turns to more of a lip stain for me, it actually makes for more of a natural look, despite being red.

Lumene Nordic Detox Recover & Protect Facial Oil

Face oils are still something of a mystery to me, but this one has a really great smell and doesn’t leave my face greasy, which is all I can ask for really! I would rank this product a bit higher had it not been for accidentally getting some in my eye, which hurt so much I genuinely thought I’d gone blind forever at one point! Obviously, this is my bad and no real fault of the product itself, I will just be a bit more careful about using it in the future! My skin does feel nice, soft and clean after using and I look forward to experimenting a bit more with this product – as long as I remember to keep it well away from my eyes!

OPI Pro Spa Advanced Softening Gloves

These gloves are designed to be used while having your nails done, so they have removable fingertips so you can soften your hands while painting your nails. The gloves did a pretty good job of softening my hands, although they were a little tricky to get into, as there was no easy tear to open them. The gloves were also meant to be tightened using a sticky strap, yet this did not work on my gloves. This wasn’t a major issue, and didn’t particularly impact on their effectiveness, but is certainly something that could be improved about the product.

Bio Miracle Bubble Sheet Mask

I love face masks, so I was excited to try this bubble sheet mask from Bio Miracle. I often find that sheet masks are way too big for my face, but this one fit perfectly. As soon as it is exposed to the air it begins bubbling up, and is at its most bubbly after about 10-15 minutes. At this point, I had to remove the mask, as there were so many bubbles they were going in my mouth and up my nose! I also found that as the bubbles grew, the mask started slipping quite a bit under the weight of them.

Love your post! Did you get all of these products in a beauty box? that is a lot, I must say. I’ve used the Laidbare’s product – Hair Today Gone Tmrw, and I must say I didn’t like it at all. Or my skin didnt like it at all, let’s say. I am curious about the gloves! I’ve used a bubble sheet mask before too – it’s so funny to have it on, isn’t it? Thanks for the reviews!
