Glossybox September 2020 Beauty Box Review

At this point I think it’s been established that I have a slight obsession with buying beauty boxes, so here I am, back with another beauty box review! This time I’m taking a look at the September 2020 Glossybox.

This box had a couple of products I was super excited to try, and the price point of some of these items makes the box an incredible bargain.

The box also contained a Lindt chocolate bar as an extra gift, however, this was scoffed down long before photography of the box could take place haha! I can confirm that it was delicious.

MineTan Exfoliating Coffee Scrub

Sometimes you just need a good scrub and this coffee one is certainly a fun choice from MineTan. It has a pretty intense coffee smell (because it is literally coffee grounds), which makes for an energizing shower experience.

I tried this out first on my upper arms and was actually quite surprised by how much dead skin this scrub was able to slough off. It certainly did the job and made my arms a lot smoother. I would absolutely use a coffee scrub again, although if you make coffee with grounds yourself, then realistically you could whip together something yourself quite easily, rather than buying a product.

 

Wishful Yo Glow Enzyme Scrub

Wishful is the skincare line from beauty guru Huda Kattan, and the Yo Glow Enzyme Scrub is the exfoliator in the collection. It includes AHAs, BHAs, Pineapple Enzyme and Papaya Enzyme.

The scrub is meant to be applied to clean, dry skin and it is said to bind to the skin and gently collect up dead skin cells so that they appear visible. To me this makes it feel like the scrub has a physical component to it (like lightly gritty, but very gentle), but Huda says that this is actually just your skin… kinda gross, but in a satisfying way!

I do feel an immediate smoothing effect and my skin definitely looks clearer and more even. It’s not the most intensive exfoliator I use, but this is still a product I would look to incorporating into my routine.

The papaya and pineapple enzymes also give the product a delicious, lightly tropical scent, without being too sickly like many products with these ingredients do!

 

Ameliorate Intensive Skin Therapy

Recently, I have had some dry, flaky skin problems and so this product came at exactly the right time for me. It really is an intensive skin therapy cream, as it gets to work very quickly and helps skin get back to normal.

It works by keeping the skin moisturised, allowing it time to heal properly. Even on sensitive, slightly broken skin, I found that this didn’t cause me any irritation of problems.

 

Avant Supreme Hyaluronic Acid Antioxidising Duo Moisturiser

If anything will convince you to buy this box it’s this product. The Avant moisturiser is worth £100, and the Glossybox is £13 or less, so honestly, it’s rude not to!

I have tried another Avant moisturiser in the past, and if I had any money, I would genuinely buy this all the time. I LOVE it! As someone with oily/combination skin, I struggle to find a moisturiser that works for me – I always end up looking like I’ve been dipped in a vat of oil or my skin is left too dry and decides to overcompensate with extra greasiness.

With the Avant moisturiser, I don’t have to worry about that. It absorbs almost instantly, and leaves your skin so soft, and almost matte to the touch. My only wish is that I could afford this on the regular.

 

Imperial Leather Foamburst – Lychee & Lotus Flower

I really enjoy a good gel to foam body wash. I was kinda obsessed with the concept of these when they first emerged on the market, but I was never allowed to buy them as a child/teenager.

The lychee and lotus flower scent is so relaxing and perfect for getting clean! I also love using these extra foamy shower products for shaving as I find it far more gentle on my skin than shaving foams, while being more bubbly than a regular shower gel.
