StyleKorean Try Me, Review Me New Year, New Skincare Review

This year I’ve been very lucky to receive the New Year, New Skincare collection from StyleKorean as part of Try Me, Review Me. The products mentioned in this blog were gifted in exchange for an honest review.

The products included in this collection are:

  • Rovectin Clean Marine Micellar Deep Cleansing Water 400ml
  • Tiam Vita B3 Source
  • Benton Let’s Carrot Moisture Cream 50ml
  • Neogen *renewal* DERMALOGY Real Charcoal Pad 60ea
  • Cell Fusion C *renewal* Laser Sunscreen 100 SPF50+/PA+++ 50ml
  • Pyunkang Yul Calming Moisture Barrier Cream 50ml
  • heimish Marine Care Eye Cream 30ml
  • Real Barrier Extreme Cream Ampoule 30ml
  • Dr.ato Travel Kit

Here I share more about these products and my experiences with each of them.

Rovectin Clean Marine Micellar Deep Cleansing Water

Micellar water isn’t what I normally use for my daily cleanser, but I do find it useful for making little edits to my makeup if I make a mistake or on lazy days when I want a refresh without doing a full skincare routine.

The Rovectin Clean Marine Micellar Deep Cleansing Water claims to:

  • Dissolve and melt away thick makeup.
  • Absorb impurities and thoroughly clean out pores.

Key ingredients:

  • 7 layers of hyaluronic acid
  • Sea water
  • Sea salt
  • Kelp extract

The micellar water is safe for sensitive skin, cruelty-free and vegan. It has a pH of 5.8.

My Experience With Rovectin Clean Marine Micellar Deep Cleansing Water

The bottle is pretty big for a skincare product, containing 400ml of micellar water, which will last me a really long time. Using this micellar water, my skin feels very refreshed, which is aided by the sea salt and sea water ingredients.

The micellar water is gentle enough to be used around the eyes, making it useful for removing makeup. However, the big down point of this product is that it’s not the best at removing makeup!

While it does a good enough job of removing the bulk of makeup from your face, there is still clearly some residual makeup left over, particularly mascara. I find that after using this, my lashes remain coated in mascara, even after holding a saturated cotton pad on the area and wiping several times.

I will continue using this as a first step to remove the bulk of my makeup, but I wouldn’t rely on this to properly cleanse my face. Instead, I would follow up with at least one other cleanser, such as an oil or gel cleanser.

Another downside for me is that, at full price, this product is a bit too expensive for me. It is RRP £23, which is more than I spend on most skincare, let alone a micellar water. Yes, this product is way better than those £3 micellar waters you can get in the UK, but I wouldn’t say it is £20+ better!

To end the review on a positive, this micellar water is one of the nicest I’ve used, and I will still enjoy using this to give my skin a nice refresh when needed!

tiam vita b3

Tiam Vita B3 Source

As an oily-skinned gal, niacinamide is a staple in my skincare routine. It helps to reduce sebum, clear up breakouts and fade dark spots.

The Tiam Vita B3 Source contains:

  • 10% niacinamide (vitamin b3)
  • 2% arbutin

Together these ingredients lighten dark spots, reduce excessive sebum production, correct uneven skin tones and brighten the skin.

My Experience With Tiam Vita B3 Source

I love niacinamide, its ability to reduce sebum production works wonders on my skin, and it’s my go-to product for treating breakouts. I find that using this can speed up the process of clearing up my skin and reducing the amount of discoloration left behind.

This serum has had these effects on my skin and I have enjoyed using it. In comparison to other niacinamide serums I’ve tried, such as The Ordinary and The Inkey List, this is lighter in consistency and sinks in quicker without much stickiness.

Benton Let’s Carrot Moisture Cream 50ml

One of the products I was most excited to try was the Benton Let’s Carrot Moisture Cream – partly because I’ve wanted to try out carrot skincare for a while, but also because it gives me an excuse to wear my carrot headband!

Ingredients:

  • Carrot seed oil – anti-inflammatory, rich in nutrients, energises skin
  • Carotene – protects skin, slight UV protection, improves skin health
  • Carrot root extract – antioxidant, gives skin healthy glow, moisturising
  • Vegetable oils – balances skins oil-moisture level
  • Tea tree leaf oil – anti-acne and antioxidant
  • Allantoin – soothing

Natural formula excludes 20 harmful ingredients, volatile alcohol, PEGs, and silicones. The product is cruelty-free. It has a mildly acidic pH.

My Experience With Benton Let’s Carrot Moisture Cream

The first thing you’ll notice about the cream is its yellowy-orange colour; I think this really adds to the carroty experience! It blends into the skin nicely, so this isn’t noticeable afterwards, but it does contribute to a nice glow.

The cream is fairly light – it looks a bit thicker than it feels – it quickly absorbs and isn’t particularly sticky, after a minute or two you won’t feel it at all.

It has a very slight carrot scent to it – I wouldn’t say it smells of carrots, but there is a hint in there! Overall, it is a pleasant scent and consistency.

Based on the ingredients, this cream is deeply moisturising and would be best for dry skin types; however, my oily/combination skin has enjoyed using it recently. It has made my skin look and feel healthier and more nourished.

For my personal skincare, I would reserve this cream for the winter months, when I need some additional moisturisation, but those with dry skin could benefit from this year-round.

Neogen *renewal* DERMALOGY Real Charcoal Pad 60ea

These pads are an updated version of this product, which now come in a bright and cheerful turquoise tub!

Each jar contains 60 pads, which have been soaked in serum.

Key ingredients:

  • Bamboo charcoal – absorbs toxins, excess sebum, oil and impurities, gently exfoliates
  • Canadian glacial soil clay and Hungarian moor mud – absorbs impurities and clarifies skin
  • Peat water – anti-inflammatory, tightens pores.
  • Ginger Mint Cooling Extract – makes skin look smoother and tighter

pH of 5.6. This formula is free of artificial fragrance, colour, alcohol, parabens and mineral oil.

My Experience With Neogen Dermalogy Real Charcoal Pad

The rounds are fairly large and are much thicker than most saturated pads I’ve tried before. I find that I can use one pad each day using one side for morning and the other in the evening.

I enjoy the gentle exfoliation these pads offer and the serum has really helped to clear up my skin. It is one of the least-harsh, but most-effective exfoliation products I’ve tried. I had a whitehead developing one night, and after cleansing with this pad, my skin was completely clear by morning.

I love that they combine an additional cleansing step with exfoliation to make sure that your skin is properly clean and clear!

This is a product I would certainly consider buying again!

Cell Fusion C *renewal* Laser Sunscreen 100 SPF50+/PA+++ 50ml

I’m always on the hunt for good sunscreen, as SPF really is such an important part of your skincare routine. The Cell Fusion C *renewal* Laser Sunscreen 100 SPF50+/PA+++ is certainly a great contender for this!

Product info:

  • Low-irritant UV protector with SPF 50+ and PA+++
  • Protects stressed skin and prevents skin ageing
  • Strengthens skin elasticity
  • Contains peptide and collagen for firm, healthy skin

My Experience With Cell Fusion C Laser Sunscreen

I always struggle to find sunscreens that work for me, as my oily skin often finds wearing them too heavy. This Cell Fusion C sunscreen has actually worked really well for me, it sinks in quickly and doesn’t feel greasy once it has dried.

Despite looking quite thick in texture, it absorbs into the skin really well and hasn’t left any whitecast at all. I have worn makeup on top of this sunscreen a number of times now, and it performs fine as a makeup base, with no problems!

Sun protection aside, this cream also makes my skin very soft and smooth, with a healthy glow!

At the moment, in the wintery weather, this SPF is ideal for my skin, and adds an extra layer of moisturisation. I wonder if it may be a little too thick for me in the summer, but I can always use a lighter moisturiser if needed if that is the case!

I’ve found wearing it comfortable and I haven’t had any sensitivity issues. One potential issue with this SPF is the fact that it has a fairly strong perfumed fragrance – it’s not unpleasant, especially given how a lot of sunscreen smells – but I know that many people do not want their skincare products to have a scent.

Overall, this is a very promising SPF that I’m loving using at the minute! I would love to see how this performs in the summer too, so I’ll probably do a follow-up review in the summer if I have any of this left by then!

Pyunkang Yul Calming Moisture Barrier Cream 50ml

I’ve been meaning to try Pyunkang Yul products for a while, so I’m grateful to be able to try the Pyunkang Yul Calming Moisture Barrier Cream.

The cream is a soothing moisturiser that is intended for those with sensitive and irritated skin.

Ingredients:

  • Centella Asiatica Extract – calms inflammation
  • Tea Tree – calms skin and regulates sebum
  • Honeysuckle flower extract – calms skin and reduces redness
  • Ceramides – strengthen skin’s natural barrier and help retain moisture
  • 5 Hyaluronic acids – hydrates skin
  • Shea Butter – moisturises skin

Low pH, free from alcohol, free from essential oils.

My Experience With Pyunkang Yul Calming Moisture Barrier Cream

I have become a bit obsessed with this cream, it’s absolute magic for my skin! The texture is deceptive – while it looks like a fairly thick cream, as you apply it to your face, it is so light, it feels like water. It sinks in fairly quickly, leaving you with a soft matte feel. When I first saw it, I thought it would have to be a night cream, but I have been using this very happily in the day.

My skin feels soft, nourished and well-hydrated. I’ve seen a noticeable improvement in my skin tone, with much less redness in my cheeks and around my nose since using it. Overall, my skin looks and feels healthier.

My oily/combination skin is loving this, it gives me the right level of moisturisation without making me greasy. I think this is one of those rare products that would actually work well for all skin types!

Heimish Marine Care Eye Cream 30ml

The Heimish Marine Care Eye Cream is the only product in this collection that I already owned, and I have been using it in my own skincare routine for a couple of months. Here I will share the results I’ve experienced while using this cream!

Ingredients:

  • Fermented seaweed extract – purifies skin
  • Mineral-rich seawater – strengthens skin
  • Peptide and plant stem cell extracts – anti-ageing effects – improves elasticity, wrinkles, skin tone and moisture level.

My Experience With Heimish Marine Care Eye Cream

I’ve included a before and after picture of my eye area while using this product. As you can see, there is a noticeable difference in the colour of the skin, with my inner and under eye lightening quite a bit from use of this cream. Obviously, this fluctuates day to day depending on my sleep habits and diet, but for the most part, there is a definite improvement!

I love the texture of this cream – it’s way thicker than any eye cream I’ve used before, but it still absorbs into my skin much quicker. The cream comes with a little metal massaging applicator that helps to cool the skin, reduce puffiness and make application easier.

As I’m in my mid-20s, I can’t say much about how this cream works on wrinkles and ageing skin, but for now, this cream is giving me promising results!

Real Barrier Extreme Cream Ampoule 30ml

The Real Barrier Extreme Cream Ampoule is intended for people with excess oil who need moisturisation, which is perfect for my skin type at the moment. The ampoule creates a lightweight, moisturising film on the skin that helps to prevent moisture loss.

Ingredients and Info:

  • Ceramide to strengthen the skin barrier
  • 10,000 ppm of Panthenol to soothe and moisturise

My Experience With Real Barrier Extreme Cream Ampoule

The thing I love most about this ampoule is the fact that it’s one of the coolest serum bottle designs I’ve seen, with the dropper magically appearing as you open the bottle!

As for the actual ampoule, I absolutely love this one! It has a milky colour and creamy consistency, and despite the look of the texture, it feels so light on my skin and absorbs super quickly! After applying, there is minimal tackiness and it makes my skin feel so smooth and soft.

Out of all the products I’m trying for Try Me, Review Me, this one would be number one on my list to buy again!

Dr.ato Travel Kit

Receiving travel sized Dr.ato products has made me dream of the day I can actually use these on holiday!

These three products come in a see-through pouch which will be perfect for traveling on planes. I’ve tried each a couple of times, but I’ll be saving them now for when I can actually travel!

Dr.ato Apple Cider Vinegar Shampoo

Claims:

  • Restores skin’s pH balance
  • Gently exfoliates scalp
  • Good for dry hair and dandruff

My Experience With Dr.ato Apple Cider Vinegar Shampoo

After using this shampoo, my hair felt very light, like it had been properly cleaned and was no longer weighed down by excess oil and skin.

It looked and felt healthy, and I was happily able to go a few days without needing to shampoo my hair again.

For a shampoo, it took a bit of work to lather up well, but that wasn’t a major problem at all!

Dr.ato Apple Cider Vinegar Wash

Claims:

  • Apple Cider Vinegar deeply cleanses and moisturises pores.
  • Soothes and exfoliates dry skin.
  • pH 5.5 – restores skin’s balance.

My Experience With Dr.ato Apple Cider Vinegar Wash

The wash was very gentle and would be good for sensitive and dry skin.

For me, the apple cider vinegar scent is not the nicest, but it’s not too bad considering it’s apple cider vinegar, which can be a bit stinky!

Like the shampoo, it wasn’t the easiest to lather on it’s own, so I would recommend using a loofah or cloth to get the most out of this wash.

Dr.ato Triple-Hyaluron Moisture Lotion

Claims:

  • For dry, dehydrated and irritated skin.
  • Triple hyaluron for deeper hydration.
  • pH 5.5.

My Experience With Dr.ato Triple-Hyaluron Moisture Lotion

This lotion has a much more pleasing scent than the wash and shampoo, it’s fresh and delicate.

It is so light and absorbed into my skin faster than any lotion I have ever tried, pretty much instantaneously. I didn’t have to wait for it to dry at all and afterwards I couldn’t feel it on my skin at all! It’s quite impressive!

My skin isn’t very dry at the minute, so I can’t speak much for it’s moisturising effects, but it did feel a lot softer and healthier after using it.
