Mary & May Brightening Skincare Review

mary and may brightening skincare

The products mentioned in this post were gifted to me by StyleKorean and Mary & May.

Mary & May is a Korean skincare brand I’ve wanted to try for ages – I’ve heard great things about their products, plus I really love the aesthetic of the packaging. StyleKorean sent me a few skincare goodies from Mary & May to try; here’s what I thought of them.

mary and may niacinamide brightening mask

Mary & May Niacinamide Vitamin C Brightening Mask

These brightening masks come in a tub of 30 sheet masks, so they should last you a few months (unless you’re masking every day!). The mask contains vitamin c and niacinamide to brighten dull skin and pigmentation. These ingredients also help to balance sebum, and suppress melanin production.

I like these tubs, as I feel like they reduce some of the waste that comes from single sheet mask packets. After I finish them, I will reuse the tub to fill with cotton pads and essence/toner to create my own toner masks.

There is plenty of essence in these brightening masks and it leaves my skin hydrated, soft and nicely glowy. I will be continuing to use these masks once or twice a week in my skincare routine.

mary and may niacinamide serum

Mary & May Niacinamide + Chaenomeles Sinensis Serum

This brightening serum contains niacinamide to lighten, balance and clear skin, plus Chaenomeles Sinensis Fruit Extract, which is rich in vitamin C, to brighten and smooth skin.

My skin is softer and smoother after using this, and has given my skin a nice glow. However, I will need to use it for longer before commenting on any improvements in terms of lightening darker patches of skin.

This is definitely a serum to use in the evening. It made my skin very shiny and quite sticky, so it’s not one I’d want to go out in public wearing on my skin! But as a serum to use overnight, I don’t mind this texture – when I wake up in the morning, my skin has a lovely healthy glow.

mary and may brightening eye cream

Mary & May Tranexamic Acid + Glutathione Eye Cream

The Tranexamic Acid + Glutathione Eye Cream is a brightening eye cream. Tranexamic Acid provides skin brightening effects, while Glutathione is an antioxidant. The eye cream also includes niacinamide to lighten and soothe the under eye area, plus vitamin c to fade pigmentation and boost collagen production.

The eye cream has quite a rich texture, but it is easy to apply and sinks in well. It has a slight scent to it, but it doesn’t bother me.

I don’t always use eye creams, as I tend to use lighter moisturisers anyway, and I find that some eye creams end up in my eye overnight, irritating it and making me a bit crusty! I don’t have this problem at all with this eye cream, it makes my eyes look bright and fresh and doesn’t cause me any irritation.

This is one eye cream I’d be happy to continue using, it has helped to keep my skin hydrated around the eye area, it hasn’t caused me any issues and I’m impressed with the brightening effect it has had on my under eye area so far.

mary and may blackberry cream

Mary & May Idebenone Blackberry Intense Cream

A moisturising cream made with 63% Blackberry Complex, which offers a great source of vitamin A and antioxidants for skin, helping to improve signs of ageing. Likewise, Idebenone helps with anti-ageing benefits, making skin look more youthful, whilst also protecting skin from environmental damage. The cream also includes ceramides to help hydrate and support the skin barrier.

This cream helps to improve wrinkles and brighten skin. It is a thick, silky smooth cream texture that intensely hydrates skin.

Personally, this cream is too thick for me to use during the day time, as it sits too heavy on my oily skin, so I look too shiny. But I have been enjoying using it in the evening as a nourishing overnight moisturiser. In the morning my skin is healthy and glowing.

I’ve really enjoyed trying out these Mary & May products and I’d love to try out more from this brand in the future. If you’d like to try Mary & May skincare, you can find their range at StyleKorean.
