My Favourite Makeup From Tarte

Tarte Makeup

Out of all the many makeup brands that I have used, I can confidently say that Tarte is my absolute favourite. While I love experimenting with wild colours and more artistic makeup looks, the fact is, I’m just not going to wake up 2-hours early to blend out a rainbow eye for work. I want something simple, but effective, that I can apply easily in the mornings, but that can also look glam for a night out, and Tarte is exactly that brand. The perfect makeup for transition from day to night, work to fun, Tarte offers everything you’d need to create some really beautiful looks. Although Tarte is an American company, international shipping is reasonable and swift. Here I share some of my favourite Tarte products, and the looks I have made with them.

Tarte Products Use Amazonian Clay

The inclusion of Amazonian Clay in many of Tarte’s products makes them so smooth, blendable and buildable. The eyeshadows offer great pigment, blending together perfectly and do not crease. The contour, blusher and highlighter can all be blended into such a natural look, or built for a bolder look. It makes the foundation soft and smooth and the mascaras nourishing.

Tartelette Flirt Palette

Tarte Flirt Palette and Swatches

A mini palette containing six shades ( 4 matte, 2 metallic), the Flirt palette offers richly-pigmented neutrals that are perfect for creating everyday looks and more shimmery, yet classy, evening and event looks. While it is a pretty simple palette colour wise, the pigment and texture of each shade is incredible and an absolute dream to blend out. This is also a really small palette, probably a little smaller than a phone, so it is also the perfect choice for travel or on-the-go touch ups.

Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-hour Full Coverage Foundation

Tarte Amazonian Clay Foundation | Shade 22N Light Neutral

As I’m only able to purchase Tarte products online, I was a little apprehensive about buying a foundation from them, as finding the perfect shade is essential and it can be tricky to do this over the internet. Luckily, there are sites available that can find a comparable shade to the one you wear across different brands – I use Findation – which showed me that my Estee Lauder Double Wear in Desert Beige was roughly the same shade as Tarte’s Foundation in 22N Light Neutral.

While a little richer in colour than my Estee Lauder Double Wear, I’d say it’s a pretty close match to my skin tone, and I would be confident to order more base products from Tarte in the future. This foundation applies like a dream, and as a thicker, almost paste-like consistency, it is really buildable, allowing you to get the coverage you are after. Because of this, it doesn’t have to be as full a coverage as Double Wear is for me, and it is also less matte, giving you a fresher and more glowy complexion.

Tarteist Lash Paint Mascara

Tarte Tarteist Mascara

Tarteist is quite possibly my favourite mascara ever! It provides both incredible length and volume, and it is one of the easiest to apply mascaras I’ve used. I haven’t had any issues with clumping and it doesn’t leave you with spidery lashes. It’s the sort of mascara that you can use for everyday makeup, but can also build-up a bit more for when you’re feeling fancy and want a more dramatic eye. The wand is great at fanning out the lashes and lengthening them, and can create a false lash look quite easily. It is easy to hold and apply, with the brush great at reaching even the tiny eyelashes.

Love, Trust & Fairy Dust Eye and Cheek Palette

Tarte eyeshadow palette

This palette has quickly become a fave of mine, and is my go-to for both day-to-day and event looks. With ten eyeshadow shades and one highlighter, there is a lot to play with here. The eyeshadows include six matte shades and four glitter shades, which are all well-pigmented and incredibly blendable. The glitter shades are bright, and can be blended in to make a classic look that can work for any occasion. While this particular palette was a limited edition that is no longer in stock, many of Tarte’s eyeshadow palettes are very similar, and you will easily find one that is a close match.

The blush is probably the product that surprised me the most. I’ve never really worn blush before this one, as every blusher I have tried has left me looking quite flushed or like a clown. I was apprehensive to try this one from Tarte, as the colour was quite bright and with slightly more orange tones than I would usually pick. But it really comes through with more peach tones, and is surprisingly subtle, blending perfectly into my foundation to look quite natural, while still offering a great pop of colour on my cheeks.

Tarte lipsticks and blush

I own six lip shades in the Tarteist Quick Dry Matte Lip Paint collection and I am in love with all of them. I’m a massive fan of matte liquid lipsticks, and already have an extensive range, but these matte lip paints from Tarte have become my go-tos for both day wear and nights out. Each shade offers incredible coverage, is long-lasting and doesn’t crack or make your lips dry out, despite being a liquid matte lipstick. I’ve had no end of compliments wearing these lipsticks, and I cannot recommend them enough. The full range of these liquid lipsticks includes 25 shades, so there is definitely one for everyone.

Park Ave Princess Contour Palette

Tarte Park Ave Princess Contour Palette

I have long avoided using contour. A combination of bad products and me not knowing what the heck I’m doing with it has led to a number of failed experiments with contouring. Each attempt I made in the past left me looking muddy or patchy. This has all changed with the Park Ave Princess contour kit. The Amazonian Clay in each contour and highlight is incredible and helps to blend the contour out into perfection. The palette includes 2 highlights and three contour shades, ranging from a nice bronze to a deep brown. The contour is light in feel and easily builds up and blends to the perfect colour. The highlight is non-shimmery, allowing you to enhance and highlight your features without just looking glittery. I really liked this, as a lot of highlighter kits would rely on shimmer to do this, rather than playing with shading.

Gifted Amazonian Clay Smart Mascara

Gifted Mascara

The Gifted mascara is a great every day option for me. I won’t lie, out of my (extensive) mascara collection, it is definitely not the best I have for length and volume, but it is perfect for casual makeup looks. I often find that my mascara from the likes of Too Faced and Benefit are too much for day-to-day looks, as I prefer to have a more natural mascara for days when I’m not going all out on my makeup. It still offers great length, without any clumping, but provides a more natural look. The mascara is also vegan, and contains Amazonian Clay which really nourishes the lashes.
